High volume sellers of health, beauty, skin care or anti-aging products, who often use affiliate marketing to generate sales, face an ever-changing legal landscape especially when it comes to keeping their advertising in check with the law. One slip-up can seriously jeopardize a company’s livelihood.

Recently Karl Kronenberger and Ginny Sanderson held a webinar discussing best practices for sellers. Topics included:

  • Product images – From before and after photos to stock photography, when do images cross the line?
  • Product Benefit Claims – Sourcing suppliers who fully understand the ingredients in the product to ensure the seller is not deceiving customers as to the benefits.
  • Testimonials/Endorsements – Utilizing testimonial affidavits to avoid run-ins with the Federal Trade Commission.
  • Advertising Channels – From blogs, websites and social media to email, ensuring that these channels are compliant and don’t include any false or misleading information.
