Kate navigates dynamic legal issues in emerging technologies for developers and end users alike.

Kate represents businesses and consumers alike in a variety of internet-related litigation and non-litigation matters, including intellectual property, defamation, terms of service and user agreements, privacy agreements and EU GDPR and COPPA compliance, and eSports contracts.

Kate’s work on eSports law has been cited over 70 times by subsequent authors, and she has been invited to speak on regulatory concerns within the eSports industry. As an attorney she represents game developers and players alike in a variety of legal topics that arise in the gaming context, including both digital topics such as the DMCA and CDA and more traditional issues such as contract negotiation, employment and labor law issues, and defamation claims.

In an industry where success can be defined by actions per minute, regulators are responding on a lag. I help identify best practices so that my clients aren't caught off-guard when the laws catch up to the technologies.

In addition to her work on video game law, Kate represents other clients in the various issues they encounter in the internet space, including ensuring regulatory compliance, drafting terms of service and privacy policies, and litigating violations of user agreements. Kate’s broad litigation experience allows her to deploy a variety of creative solutions while remaining mindful of the potential legal implications of her client’s decisions. Her focus is to help her clients find practical, workable solutions in a legal landscape that is in constant flux.

Kate graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and is licensed to practice in Arizona.
