Ginny Sanderson Educates Brands on Safely Testing Supplements in Natural Products Insider
In February 2015, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman claimed that “DNA barcode testing” revealed the dietary supplements sold by some of the nation’s largest retailers were not what they claimed to be. Partner Ginny Sanderson authored the article, “Transparency and Education: Vital Ingredients in Supplement Product Testing” published by Natural Products Insider, explaining how brands can truthfully convey to consumers that its products have been tested.
In the article, Ms. Sanderson explains that it is very easy to accidentally, or intentionally, contaminate and dilute ingredients because each ingredient passes through numerous hands before it makes its way first, into a product and second, into the bodies of consumers. It seems the best solution to prevent this is identity testing, but this comes with a set of risks because you must not misrepresent the nature or extent of testing methods.
Read the full article for a list of dos and don’ts to help minimize the risk of identity testing.
